Relocate Coarse Tailings Lines to Grade (Trains 1 & 2) Project

The Coarse Tailings pipeline routing was redesigned to be relocated from high on the pipe rack down to grade to allow for safe, cost effective tailings pipe rotations. Sulphur Recovery Units and Tail Gas Treatment Unit Project

Provide detailed engineering services for a two train 320 TPD Sulphur Recovery Plant, including Tail Gas Treatment Unit, Selexol Plant and Amine Plant in grassroots facility. Technologies Used: Selexol Acid Gas Removal Process. The entire facility was modeled utilizing 3D CAD technology. Capital’s scope included detailed engineering, field engineering and commissioning, as well as construction inspection and Engineer of Record responsibilities. The total installed cost of this project was $190M.

Nonfemet ZPL Zinc Smelter

Market Sector: Mineral Processing- Zinc Refining
Location: Danxia Province, China
This project scope included the design of mechanical, piping and instrumentation for the construction of a Zinc Smelting facility using Pressure Leach technology.

The project involved the creation of a 3D model, piping and equipment layouts for review by the local Construction contractor. Capital’s design focused on the mechanical and controls systems pertinent to the 3-train proprietary Pressure Leach process.

When complete, the total installed cost of this facility is forecast to be in excess of $100M.

Thickener Overflow to Coarse Tailings Pumpboxes Project

This project required detailed design to tie into an existing water header from tailings thickeners, with two new pipelines to transfer excess water to CT pump boxes for mixing. The benefits included reduced water volumes discharged into the tailings pond, as well as reduced water supply requirements at the CT. The total installed cost of the project was $1.2M.

Reclamation Operations Facility

This project involved the design and specification of a new substation to meet a client’s growing requirements for electrical power. The project was split into two main areas: design of the building and specification of the electrical MV and LV equipment. The building design included civil, structural foundation design, and mechanical and electrical building services. The electrical portion of the project involved a power system study, ARC flash analysis and relay coordination. Further responsibilities included specification of equipment and production of system drawings. When complete, the total installed cost of this facility is forecast to be $15M.

Cooling Plant Expansion

This project was divided in to two distinct phases that saw the replacement of existing 13.8kV and 4.16kV switchgear and MCC line-ups. New equipment included the installation of 1.5 MVA dry type transformer plus rerouting of cable and cable trays to supply power to new and existing loads. This work included a full suite of power system analysis, including load flow, short circuit, protective relay coordination and ARC flash studies.

Cooling Plant Chiller Addition

Borealis Camp Potable Water Distribution System

Coke Cutting Cabs Replacement

To increase operator safety and improve ergonomics, this scope of this project was to redesign the operator control cabins, used during operation of the cokers. This project required that numerous initiatives regarding operator safety and comfort were met, while addressing significant challenges due to existing interferences of adjacent equipment and piping. The project design also had to be able to be installed during a short shutdown timeframe. When complete, the total installed cost of this project is forecast to be $4M.

Coke Bottom Head Ventilation
